Got back to Scotland late Thursday and spent today in DYI shops looking for wood for some shelves for SWMBO.
Women when they move houses always seem to want more shelves!!!!
At some point decided to sample the coffee. On the counter was this offering called " Farmhouse Cake" - sort of looked like a very large friut scone cut up into 3" square pieces.
The price for this "delicatable" looking offering was £ 1.05. That is 21 shillings in proper money - or 1 guinea if my memory serves me right.
I thought "guineas" were reserved for fine art and horses!!!!!!!!!!!

Ach weel, the rank is but the guinea's stamp an' 'at.

Lobey Dosser and El Fideldo, Lobey’s faithful steed and companion, would have chased the bandit. Elfie is unique in a couple of respects; she has only two legs and has learned to talk, although the latter talent is rarely exploited.
