Has anyone had problems getting a through Gt yarmouth bridges, ie has the port authority refused to open or given you the run around.

Also anyone had a incident with mooring on the wall which resulted in injury or a near miss.

The port are trying to restrict movement to when they think we want it, they have to get it changed by act of Parliment, as yet we have had no public consultation that has been published. As the only other access to the sea is thro a small lock at oulton broad the ancient Haven bridge is vital to us.

The mooring facilities at the wall are dangerous in the fast flowing river, we have asked for a pontoon, not all people can climb a old steel ladder, the chains and ropes are a hazard to get hold of.

Any comments please.

If I have to moor on the quay at Yarmouth I stay on the boat.

It is very dangerous to moor and I refuse to put my life at risk to climb the ladders over the wall.

I always try to time arrival/departure at Gt Yarmouth at slack low water having been forced to use the dreaded harbour wall on my first visit. It is not a pleasure boat user friendly place. I can just squeeze under the Haven Bridge at LW. The few occassions I've used the lock at Lowestoft have been a bit of a hassle with the lock times not co-inciding with the bridge opening times, and being obliged to dodge around waiting for rather too long.- again not pleasure boat oriented, and why should they be? We contribute nothing to their coffers.
