Google powertxt.
It is awesome. I'm not connected in any way, but i am really happy with it. You plug it in to an outlet inside your boat.
It texts you if the temp goes out of range
It texts you if the power goes off/on
You can text it to get the power/temp status
All for about £130!
Piece of mind to know my heater is on.

+1. They also market as Thermotxt - it's the same product and very good.

I bought one recently (branded Energenie) to replace a cheap and cheerful eye-spy-camera in which the battery had gone duff.

Really impressed with the Energenie GSM socket - worked first time.
And it detected a 5 min outage a couple of days ago.
It sends me texts when if the power on the boat fails and then another text when the power is restored.
Solid - well built bit of kit - and now very realisticly priced.
I use a Vodafone PAYG SIM which cost me £5 two years ago and I've put a total of £10 on it since. The Vodafone SIM is a UK one and the device is in Spain - and its still cheap to run.

I don't yet have anything plugged into the socket - I cant think of what I need to switch on/off. I plugged in the themometer input device but, again I dont know why I would want to know the inside temp of the boat!!

Anyway - really pleased with it.

I asked a similar question recently, and ended up with this set-up...

You might also want to consider Alert Pal which is more a security device, but after endless research I went for that. It will alert you if the power fails and even has a smoke alarm. My main drive was to be alerted of a power failure for winter but then thought I needed better security etc. To monitor temp (a little bit crude) I am experimenting with a temp gauge that sits in front of the camera (but not blocking view). Therefore everytime I want do a check, I just text the device and receive an image.

Cheapest website (£180) I have found and no problems with them, some sell the same thing up to £350! The product is known as either Alert Pal or CNM Minder.

That was my thought
I don't mind paying for things I'm not going to use as long as it's a cheaper option.
As I say, the quality of the Energenie product is very good - not a cheap plastic device like my original solution.

Managed to get one on line for £91 delivered

Hopefully will do the job

Thanks all

Looking forward to texting the boat from the yacht club to put lights and heater on!

That should work well
There are several other options with the device as well

It took me a long time to find an electronic copy of the user manual.
Where possible, I like to keep all my docs in electronic form.
Especially a device like this where the actual manual is on the boat.

There is no reference to the manual on the Energenie site
This link is the same as the manual that comes with it

I downloaded and stored it with my other docs.
