Hi Folks,

I am going to let the moths out the wallet and buy the wif a nosebag at Felixstowe Ferry, can you recommend which pub is best for food

Many thanks

Rob

We've had a few good meals in the Ferry Boat recently, lunch & dinner. It's not spectacular but pretty good, we plan to go back soon.
Ramsholt Arms probably has the edge though.

The actual food at the Ferry Boat is ok its the staff that let the place down - all look miserable but sarcastic too....The Ramsholt Arms is ok but the best bet is probably The Maybush at Waldringfield, although last time I was there on a Saturday night the foods wasnt that special (although the place was packed!) Good Luck!!

Hi

Would like to givethe Maybush a go,but always feel cannot leave boat on borrowed swing mooring. At Ramsholt,George was sorted us out a mooring so mind at rest and can eat in peace.

Last time we were at Waldringfield the harbourmaster sorted us a mooring for the night and we just made a donation to the RNLI (box conveniently on the bar in the pub) although I dont think they have many designated visitors moorings anymore (they used to be white/orange stripes in front of the sailing club?)

The harbourmaster, John Smith, can be contacted on 01473 736257 (home) or 07505 035456
Email: waldringfieldhm@btinternet.com When afloat, VHF channel M (37A) is usually monitored.

Alternatively, arrangements may be made with Waldringfield Boatyard on 01473 736260.

Have things changed at the Maybush? last time we visited the Maybush (admittedly a few years ago) there was a very full menu but it was typical middle England pubco food, nothing to write home about. The menu at the Ramsholt may not be as varied but the quality was far better and we have stuck with it ever since. We also like anchoring at the Rocks and walking along to Ramsholt, helps set up the appetite.

We have eaten at both within the last 7 weeks and had no complaints at either....would probably rate the Maybush experience higher overall though!

We had drinks and meals at the Ferry Boat Inn a few days ago. The staff seemed ok if nothing special and a lot better than the girl who cheated us at Ramsholt (£7 for a pint of Broadside and a half of Guinness, but we were back on board before we counted). The Other Half's cod was very good at Felixstowe Ferry as usual, and my slip-soles were also good at about £12. How they can charge £9.50 for Quiche Lorraine at Ramsholt defeats me.
