RIP
Some weeks ago, I posted a question about the fan on our Eberspacher surging (D4 Airtronic Plus). Since then, the unit has been stripped, de-coked, gaskets replaced, fuel filter changed and fuel lines blown through. It was put back together, and it still surged. Phone call to Krueger who said must be the units ECU, so that too was changed for a new one.....still surged!!
Now, this only happens when the battery charger is on - switched off the unit will run continuously with no problems. The general view was that the battery charger was overcharging, so it was tested (OK) and swapped for another one that is known to be OK. Guess what, it surged again when the charger was on!! Switched off, the unit runs fine!!
So, where do we go from here? It is obviously something to do with the unit reacting to top end volts. The batteries are 170 amp/hr, 10 months old, tested and found to be in top condition.
Guess it's not a major problem, just run it with the charger off, but it was never like this last winter - the engineer, and the whole pontoon are scratching their heads. Anyone got any "off the wall" ideas?? They would be very welcome.
