Gribs on the iPhone?

I have iNavx with Navionics charts (UK, Belgium, Netherlands, Eire). It's basically the same charts as the Navionics app, but the Navionics app is more a viewer, while iNavx is a full navigation suite, capable of reading NMEA and will overlay free GRIBS.

I looked on the site, but it does not mention UK coverage.

If I have the Navionics app on the iPad can iNavx use those charts or do I have to buy again from somewhere else?

PocketGrib for iPhone/iPad

Hey folks,

After many years as a uGrib user on PC, I finally got around to developing my own GRIB app for iPhone. I have just released PocketGrib which aims to be the "uGrib for iPhone" that myself and others have been looking for.

You can see some screenshots and the full description here.

Let me know what you think...

Cheers,

See http://weather.mailasail.com/Franks-Weather/Grib-Files-Apps.

There are several people now offering GRIBs on iPhones, iPads or iTouch. They are all essentially the GFS. Some seem to use Saildocs as the source. Others extract them direct from NOAA. From what I can see, weathertrack is the most highly developed but the others are or will be catching up soon. Some offer or will offer other forecasts eg COAMPS, NOGAPS, CMC etc. Given the latest enhancement to the GFS, I doubt that there is any advantage in these other than as a backup when there has been a communications or other problem.

Otherwise, I hold no broef for any and am just listing what I can see and, occasionally borrowing a grandchild's iPhone, having a quick look.

As ever, there are pros and cons. I am sure that some will prefer to use a laptop or notebook. Others will be happy with these handhelds which are more robust but may not be as convenient when it comes to storing a file for later viewing and comparing with a later forecast.

Excellent application Nicko, i´ve been looking for something like this for a long time, works perfectly. Congratulations friend.

I see from here that you can now get Gribs on an iphone, but that App only covers the US.

Is there a Grib App that would work with the Navionics App in Europe?

I use iNavX on an iPad. It is worldwide. All the GRIB Apps that I know about, Weathertrak, Weather4D, PocketGrib, iGrib, PocketGrib for android and Mobilegrib for Android give worldwide coverage as doe the iNavX service.
