This is the heads outlet seacock and the surface has turned grey. I haven't tried to scratch the surface to see if it's still a bronze colour underneath. Is this ok or a sign of impending doom?

Inside is where you need to look for impending doom. Grey or black on the outside may just be due to farting too much in the heads.

Normal discolouring due to the presence of salt air.

....or just normal discolouring. The main stop cock under the sink at home is just the same colour. I don't think it's anything to worry about.
