Big amphibious international exercises going on off the West Coast this weekend in Operation Joint Warrior. So expect the water to be a bit busier than normal.

Most remarkable bit about it might be 16 warships going up the Clyde to George Fifth Dock in Glasgow........ must be the biggest shipping movement up the River Clyde in years.

Highly likely, indeed all but certain, I'd say. But no one will see them and they certainly won't be coming up the Clyde.

Last big run down the Clyde was in the late 90s-so the second Gulf War.
We used to live up on Canada Hill in Rothesay so had a grandstand view out of our kitchen window.
Most were filling up with fuel at depot near Toward Point.
Landing craft carriers;Harrier carriers; plus an array of destroyers escorts etc.

Plenty of ships charging around south of Arran, submarine included. Curiously enough a cargo boat from St Petersburg (UTA) anchored outside Davaar Island while much of the Nato activity was taking place. In an easterly sea there could hardly be a more uncomfortable place to anchor!
