There are a number of the sleek black underwater deliverers of death engaged in the excercise too.

Talking of which, has anyone seen the new 2018 series of Das Boot? In the true traditions of the Trade, Im gonna pirate it somehow now Ive discovered it. :encouragement:

I've noticed that a few submarine commanders seem to think their boats are amphibious... :p

Last big run down the Clyde was in the late 90s-so the second Gulf War.
We used to live up on Canada Hill in Rothesay so had a grandstand view out of our kitchen window.
Most were filling up with fuel at depot near Toward Point.
Landing craft carriers;Harrier carriers; plus an array of destroyers escorts etc.

Plenty of ships charging around south of Arran, submarine included. Curiously enough a cargo boat from St Petersburg (UTA) anchored outside Davaar Island while much of the Nato activity was taking place. In an easterly sea there could hardly be a more uncomfortable place to anchor!
Some things don't change....
