'Greek Wreckers'

Re: \'Greek Wreckers\'

[ QUOTE ]
It is now legal to run a charter business in Greece with other than Greek registration.

It has been for some time.

However, if you both taking on and dropping off passengers in Greece (ie, all your activities are Greek based) your vessel must meet Greek charter regulations as to equipment and paperwork, and you have to be registered and taxed as a Greek business.

and those very complex regulations will be applied to a foreign registered vessel - whereas for a Greek registered vessel there will be substantial "flexibility".

So if you do want to run a charter business in Greece, do you self a big favour and register the vessel there. It will make life much much easier.

Re: \'Greek Wreckers\'

Hi. Having read the tale of Yansa and Mark Walker's problems. I returned from Zante on 16/10/08 and Yansa is still there (and a sad sight she is). The wheel is now missing as are the sails. The main damage appears to be caused by children boarding her and using her as a "pirate ship". Although I have great sympathy for Yansa and Mark's dreams a thought occurred to me - Why did Mark not contact his insurance company especially if he was "chartering" Yansa, surely Mark must have had insurance. I do not wish to prolong this only to say that if Yansa is not moved soon - having spoken to locals that the winter storms will exact the "ultimate price" on a beautiful yacht. Clay
