Wow, the Corryvreckan is an impressive paddle! A friend of mine took a GP14 through it once - singlehanded When I was in Shetland I was paddling solo all the time. I suddenly realised I was only going out in good weather and I was losing my rough water skills. So I purposely started pushing it a bit and going out in bigger and bigger stuff... It does give you experience of a kind I suppose.

...Being a trailer sailer you have absolutely the best option too and enjoy great trips without the stress of having to cover distances to make a tidal gateway....

Well that's the kind of thing I want to do but one step at a time of course...
