I am pretty sure the dingle arm interface with the giddly pin's convoluted retro helical angle requires stability from combined yaw and slew, hence it is unlikely to work at small boat platform frequencies.

Apparently it also makes H2o film cased lead non magnetic so a lower mass gyro compensation capacitor can be used.
