The Forum at its best !

Well done all

I am thinking of launching the ybw courier and transport service. We move goods through the forum network and split profits according to miles/time/weight.

I can see my first Bentley GT already.

Ian, I like your boat jumble. What are the opening hours?

/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I like it; I've got a yard like that too. I'll bet we are not alone!

My question is this, hasn't everyone got a cement mixer of their own?

[/ QUOTE ]

Err, actually I do have a cement mixer.

This is not going well, as I have the old trailer, wheelbarrow, two doors lying against a wall in the back garden and assorted pots and pressure sprayers.

I can boast an old and broken - but fixable, but probably not in my lifetime - garden swing chair, a water butt with metal hand pump - needs slight attention - and a stack of boat stands that are just too good to get rid of.

It's getting worse, as compared with my garden, yours is quite uncluttered.

Well actually /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
Even though we have a sixty foot by forty foot barn , which currently houses my 21ft sail boat , a land rover being renovated , a skid stear digger , a VW camper van also being renovated , a sit on lawn mower , a gas forklift , a stable , three workshops and a gardening tools store , I still have two cement mixers at the back of the barn along with my Birchwood , a huge launching trailer and a massive rough terrain forklift /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
So if your wife thinks you're like Steptoe , ask her if she wants to see some pics from me /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Time for my report.

I managed to intercept Peter and photograph him from a motorway bridge.

And I really can't believe this, but the Merc in Lane 3 may well be US!!!!!!!!!!!

We were on our way to "do" lunch with Pam's aged parents in Manchester!!!!!

So if you were wondering who the two grown-up hooligans were, shouting and waving on the M6 yesterday morning, you've been Pam_Nick'ed!!!!!

Great job guys - always delightful to see this sort of support - pity I haven't got a tow-bar.....

Great story - all we need now is Alistair to post pictures of the trailer safely stored in his garden.

Trailer looks good - he will certainly know he has the S24 on the back.

It will look a bit like this:- (and before anyone says:- I know the canopy is up, i was only towing a few miles and not that fast)

Part 4 of the Great forum Trailer Relay.

As already said, I left the house just after 7am this morning, the drive down was pretty uneventful apart from it was VERY thick fog, all the way, with freezing patches too, only other things was there was loads of roadworks, and a car that over took me towing a single axle trailer with another car on it! And I wasn't exactly hanging about!!! Bloke was a Nutter!!!
But i was happy cruising along with the cruise control set, and Kate Nash as company!

I had Ian's house set into my satnav, not that i needed it, as soon as i drove into the village there was this obstruction on the road that people were having to get around, I soon realised it was the trailer, Ian had brought it back out the front of his house, and it seemed to be taking up half the road, gawd it looked big!!!

Met Ian and his better half, and we had a cup of tea and a good chat, then it was back down to business!
We swapped vehicles,, Ian that wasn't me looking for the hitch, that was me trying to work out how to attach it, it was the first time I'd used the detachable towbar on that car! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I then took charge of attaching the number plate, didn't want to leave that too Ian after his past form, Major, I think i went a bit OTT with the duck tape, still i didn't want too lose it! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Then it was down to the customery handover with pics and handshake, and it was back onto the road again for me!(my pics are the same as Ians there.)

This time i had Kyle Minogue for company on the way back, the fog hadn't lifted very much and the roads were quite a bit busier, past the first police car as soon as i joined the M6. Once on the motorway, i set the cruise control for 60mph, thats how it stayed most of the way up the road other than to slow down to 50 for a couple of sets of roadworks.
I have to say, it might not be the most ecnomical way to drive, but i really do like cruise control.
100miles up the road, and I hit a jam up in the middle of glasgow, took about an extra 15mins to get through, didn't really matter, but i was desperate for a pee!! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I didn't stop anywhere, just drove straight home, arriving just before 1230hrs, Callum standing at the lounge window waiting to wave at me as i drove into the street.

A quick pee stop and move Kirstys car out, i reversed the trailer back out the cul-de-sac, turned around then reversed it back into the cul-de-sac and into our drive.

In position, and blimey it is big!!!

Sorry these are the only pics i have, as i obviously couldn't take any of myself driving back up the road!

Trailer in position and its time for the final club pics, this time Kirsty took the pics, Here it is the final handover or whatever you want too call it, here is Callum and I holding the club burgee on our new trailer, in its new home, Scotland! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

So thats it! We did it, we moved a trailer from one end of the county to the other, 457miles, with what I'd like to think was the minimum of fuss.
It certainly made things a lot easier for me, what would have been a 900m round trip ended up, being just a 250m trip for me. Thanks.

Once again, I'd like to thank everyone involved who made this possible.
It does go to prove that these forums must be the best in the world!
Well i believe they are!

Thankyou and goodnight!

Cheers

Al.
