Just planning my summer cruise and thinking of visiting Granville I will be arriving there from Jersey.

Any of you folk been there and any advice re entry would be appreciated Also Carteret looks interesting?

Thanks in advance

Granville - Good place to go. You need high tide +-2 for a 2m keel to get in to the marina which is often chockers requiring rafting. Visitors pontoons very close to entrance - two poles green and red showing the gap in the retaining wall - be sure to pass through these poles or take your punishment!

Good restaurants in town, bit quiet on Sundays.

We enjoyed our stay in Granville last year, but felt under pressure to leave the next day due to tidal entry restrictions, wishing we could of stayed an extra day to explore the town more.

Just make sure when you arrive it is not the day that they are having a local sponsored swimathon in the harbour for school kids. On our final approach to the marina we were suddenly faced with over 50 little people swimming across our bow like a shoal of flying fish totally unaware of the danger, and putting our knowledge of the Coll Regs and spoken French to the test ! /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

can't comment on any more info than whats been said... nice place... and nice walk up to the signal station..

Watch out for Le Loup on entry it's the danger mark... it's a nice sail from st malo... we made the detour to <sp> mont san micheal <sp> in the bay... but not too close.. nice trip from jersey also.

Nice place. Beware of seas close to entrance if approaching in F6 or thereabouts westerly winds. There's a whole raft of decentish restaurants along the seafront. It's also a good base from which to explore the Isles Chausey if the weather is settled.
