I'm thinking of a boat change, and I've formed an interest in the Grand Banks Eastbay 43. Despite its obvious drawbacks I'm strangely attracted to it .

I appreciate that I may need therapy, but in the meantime I was wondering if there were any owners / ex-owners on the forums with experience of this boat, either the flybridge or coupe version? I'm especially interested in learning of how well the boat handles lumpy / beam sea conditions (by which I mean such as might be found on a summer Lyme Bay wind-against-tide crossing in an F4/5 for example). And, what's engine access like - daily checks, annual servicing, bigger jobs?

Thanks for any insight.

Not sure what the drawbacks might be aside from the ladder to the flybridge on that version and even that looks reasonably practical. Nice lines, no narrow sided decks to traverse, no swoopy curves or shapes that make being in deck a bit like standing on a bar of soap. In short a ‘proper’ looking boat ?

Doesn’t answer any of your questions I am afraid but FWIW I would have thought that coming from the Grand Banks stable it is likely to be a capable sea boat.

Thanks Greg. The biggest downer on paper is the bunks in the guest cabin but as we rarely have overnight guests that's probably academic.

Ive just looked these up, and they look amazing. Personally I'd prefer a bifold door instead of a single, but I like the side door for the helm access. I say you should go for it but with one proviso ........

Thanks, yes, I called the broker up to book a viewing on the only one for sale in the UK, it was sold and desosit taken literally an hour before I rang! FFS.
That's a shame. I suppose he wouldn't let you still have a look so you could see if you actually liked it in real life rather than just on pics?
