If you have owned or skippered a Grand Banks 42 your experiences would be appreciated, good or bad. This is research for any article on buying a used example.

42 GB 18 knots?? Must be one with effin big donks below the saloon!! Not with the wee lehmanns some of them had!

9Knts........... my 32 will do that on a good day, with the wind and flat, clean bum and WOT /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif Not that WOT gets used on Little Ship,.... oh no, burn 2 1/2 gallons an hour no sireee. Ask Kwacker he knows.

The 42s should be capable of 12 with Lehmans in. Dont forget the Lehmans are only 125hp the one in the article had Cummins in.

Tom

Yep, 300hp cummins engines, just what I suspected and I bet she was burning whole rig full of diesel at that speed, probably more than 10 gals an hour per engine!

1969 woodie - I get 10Kn with a clean bottom at WOT. Cruise at 8.5 @ 2,000rpm.

After 21 years of my ownership she is a bit loaded with kit & gear, so not bad & very economical. That's with sabre 135's installed in 2000.

Had the original 108 lehmans before & cruised at 8, couldn't get more than about 9 at WOT.
