Has anyone managed to use GPSU (GPS Utility) to upload waypoints to a Garmin 152. The programme sees the GPS, when both GPS and laptop are set ot NMEA/NMEA. However, this doesn't allow the uploading of waypoints and routes.

What a wonderful chap you are!! Senior son lost my gps managment software and I couldnt remember the name. Fellow forumites have tried to suggest names to jog those little grey cells without success. Then you come along GPSU !! how could I forget!!
Your question I upload to my Garmin (152) and back to the PC with no problems ( that I recall!!)
I will have a look and report back.
Thanks again!! Peter

I feel that I am starting again on this. I have just asked the software owner if my old registration still exists.
It is certainly worth the 30 quid.
I cant remember how I uploaded the waypoints, I know it worked fine.
I just scan in and callibrate the sections of chart I need, add waypoints on the callibrated maps, save them on the PC and upload them into the Garmin.
I'm sure it will come back to me!!
Or hopefully some other kind person who will put us both out of our misery.

I've used GPSU with my Garmin 12XL with no problems but I think I used Garmin to Garmin to communicate between PC and GPS to transfer waypoints and routes.

Good luck, Colin. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

On this one, I have just spoken to the software designer via email. He suggests: "Check your cable continuity. The NMEA mode requires that only the ground and the GPS->PC wire are working. The Garmin mode requires that the PC->GPS wire is operational as well. Check the sockets/connectors for any obvious problem. "

Can someone tell me which additional wires need to be connected from the Garmin to the serial socket?

Thanks

I don't believe NMEA supports upload and download. I have used several different pieces of software inc GPSU and always did it on the Garmin protocol. It worked fine with a Garmin12 and a Garmin72 with GPSU.
