Havent got one, (I have a Lowrance 3600i), but the Standard Horizon would feature highly if I was buying today rather than last year.
Waterproof and the resolution of 480 x 480 was what sold me on the small (5") screen of the lowrance, having originally wanted 10" - ooh err mother /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif.
Practical Boat Owner tested 6 budget chart plotters in October 2006.
The Standard Horizon CP180i was declared the "Best On Test".
The others tested were:
Lowrance GlobalMap 3600Ci
Eagle Intellimap 500C
Cobra marine MC 600Ci EU
Garmin GPSmap 276C
Navman tracker 5505
I'm sure it's a workable plotter, but in my limited experience I've found that screen resolution is very important on small plotters, especially if you want to get the full benefit of the features in the latest generation of chart cartridges. The 180 only has 320x240 pixel resolution. For about the same money, you can get a Lowrance 5150 with 640x480 pixels - 4 times better resolution!
It would be worth your while trying to see some demonstrations before deciding.

I was wondering about the resolution of the SH.
My last plotter was a Lowrance with 640x480 which i rated very good, but just sold the boat with all the last years modern technology included.
I have been looking at all sorts of Gizmo's to fit on our new/used boat and i fancied a change and was informed that the SH was a better/later model.
I've not made up my mind yet, which road to take and will take a deeper look at what's on offer.
Bought one at SBS last year and am just getting around to fitting it /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
I have played with it over winter at home, running it off a 12v mains adapter. I didn't need to refer to the book much as the menus are fairly intuitive. The joystick makes it easy to pan around.
I went for this as I like the Cmap cartography and it was a good deal with the wide area chart.
The CP-180 has done very well in a umber of test since it was launched in Sept.
It would be worth trying to play with both the units to see how there compare.
Whilst the res maybe lower but think you will find it a lot brighter and is a very clear screen to work with.
Try and find some one local to you that has both and have a good play.
