GPS Nav group is just the FULL answer to all you need ....

I runa group on the net that covers all matters to do with GPS ... from sorting out s/ware, checking out cables ... testing etc. etc.

url : http://groups.yahoo.com/group/gps-navigator/

all you need is a Yahoo profile and log in / become a member and we'll help in every way possible .....

Where do you sail, what areas are you interested in for GPS working .... etc. etc.

Join in and you'll be pleasantly surprised I think .....

If you've got the Magellan lead (ha ciggie lighter plug and 9 pin D type) then plug it into your com port on the PC, it doesn't need anything else.
Do a search on the web for GPSU which is an upload download utility and manages waypoints etc. on your GPS. That will also test you've a connection.
