Gouda Bridge Closure

Heading North from Dordrecht today and local news reporting a ship has hit Gouda railway bridge. Rang the bridge control and it sounds like it is out of action for foreseeable which is a bit of a problem so rethinking plans. Details are a bit sketchy but if anyone has any updates please let me know. Thanks

There seems to be considerable damage to the railway bridge and it has even shifted on its foundations, so it might be some time before it will be reopened. The bridge is part of a major railway route, which is also affected. The accident happened just at the end of maintenance work on the bridge, which already affected the Staande Mast Route from 3 to 14 may.

You're right, it's not the main railroad bridge, but the smaller one (swing bridge) just north of the main bridge. Still definitely part of the mast up route. Repairs will be attempted tonight.

Spoke to bridge keeper and he stated only option with mast is to take the North Sea route which is what we are doing. Currently near Rotterdam and will head to IJmuiden via Hook of Holland tomorrow. Bit too windy Wednesday. Blooming long diversion though !
