Got that red sand off yet ?

I washed the boat down a few days earlier and it now has a dusting. I can't be bothered to wash it down again and am doing my rain dance daily.

It didn't work, and nor did my repeated libations with the same intent. I don't think it would have had any effect anyway. I went down today and thought I would spend a few minutes hosing down the coachroof and cockpit with the deck brush. An hour later I was still on my hands and knees with a scrubbing brush trying to get the cementified gunk off the textured roof and the fiddly bits. I suppose you will think that is natural justice.

I cleaned my decks a few days ago, to shift the sand & cleaned & hoovered all the inside, ready to put the gear back ( I strip everything out every year) This I started yesterday with a van load of gear.
So yesterday they decided to hose down the boat to one side of me (& just about everything else in sight) & apart from the odd flick of water on me, they formed a great muddy puddle at the base of my ladder. Result being that I trod grit into the boat.
At the end of the day I wiped the floor , cleaned the cockpit again & went home without finishing the loading.
Today the sub contract bloke polishing the Mobo behind me was doing the same with a jet washer & the drain at the bow ran right over the bottom of my ladder & I was unable to place the gear at the bottom to hand up. Result, more mud on MY boat that I had already cleaned TWICE. Grrr

I used a hosepipe and a stiff brush, and it shifted the majority of it. I was going to pressure wash the decks, but it didn't seem worth it. I'm only a hundred yards or so from you, but it hadn't set solid at all on Capricious - nearly all of it just rinsed off. AT home, though, I notice that it has solidified in some places, but not others.

Took me an age to pressure wash everywhere at home, going to the boat this weekend so not looking forward to it... altho thinking about John, now you've got the technique sorted do you want to demonstrate it to me on my boat? I am a slow learner btw ?

Certainly, but I charge by the sq cm. I don't pressure wash because of the teak decks. I could pressure wash the coachroof I suppose, but even that has teak handrails, and in any case my old Kächer is playing up.

I bought one of theses things. A bit better than an ordinary hose but you need a good connection with the hosepipe. There are two settings. Quality can be variable apparently.
