The Willows in Windsor have just given formal notice to all moorers that we are being evicted to make way for 19 new residential houseboats.

Displeased :(

Residential Moorings are gold dust. They will let these in no time at all at a vast profit over regular moorings. Never a week goes by without I get an enquiry about having a residential mooring here. Sadly I have to deny them. Ordinary moorings only.

Presumably "Willows in Windsor" has got planning permission for 19 residential moorings. Have you checked?

Most councils have cottoned on to the fact that they can claim "Section 106" money from the developer on granting planning permission in addition to the costs the developer will incur in bringing the site up to residential standards.

NO!!!!! Are they buying the houseboats and putting them there, or offering the moorings?

I get asked so often for residential moorings on the Thames as you know, so rare!

That sucks for you and Mike...

Yeah, they are pukka residential moorings already.

They're kicking off the boats to be replaced by houseboats - those big blocky static things. Floating houses really.

We did approach Haulfryn to try and buy the moorings last year, but they said no.

It appears they intend to sell the houseboats to owners and continue to charge mooring fees to the houseboat owners. They will make a lot of money, so I guess it's no surprise.

Still pretty disappointed though.... Been there for 9 years, have a little garden, lawn, shed, bbq etc which I won't get in a marina.

That said, had a quote form MDL Windsor today. Mooring fees are cheaper, fuel is cheaper as a berth holder and they do the freedom berth scheme, so actually I'll be c£2k pa better off. Still prefer a riverbank mooring though!!!

Yuh, pretty peeved really, especially after 9 years! Tbh, it's not that bad for Sam and I - she has a flat, so the boat is really a toy now.

Mike though, is livid. That is his only domicile, so he now has to find somewhere else residential. MDL have got wind of it and flatly refuse to entertain any residential boats, so they're really stuck. And he's just bought a load of rattan furniture and redone his seating area!

And the guy with the huge steel barge thing is really in the schtum. Where will he put that?? Doesn't even move under its own power any more.....

Bit of a shock Ross or has it been on the cards? MDL Windsor is a nice marina spent 6 years there, Hope all works out for you.

They will be charging a fortune for those river floating houses!

Tell Mike I will keep my ears open, things do sometimes come up.

When are they kicking you out?

As for the barge....

Well it must have been on the cards for the owners of the willows - takes a fair amount of planning and investment.

But for us - no, total surprise. We all got registered post this morning basically saying your notice is served, good bye!

Maybe your friend could ask the RBOA,is there not legislation in place to protect genuine liveaboards?Your friend must surely have an agreement, ask on the liveaboard forum.42 days sounds very 'rackman esq'.
