This often gets asked here, and the usual answer is to get an enzyme-based spray product from the pet shop. I have no idea whether the one you linked to is such a thing even after a quick look at their web site.

I tried to seach for previous posts on the subject but found nothing.

The link I put in I found recomended whilst doing a yahoo search. I am lookiing for something to actually get rid of the smell, not mask it.

Still living in hope.... :D

Peggie, (bows head with respect) mentions/recommends a Bio-enzymatic cleaner which AFAIK is not available in UK.

I have had good results with the pet shop enyme based cleaner.

It needs to be liberally sprayed all over the offending area and left alone, wood work, bulkheads, pipework,sole....everywhere, and then do it again and it should solve the problem. If it doesn't then you still have a source problem.

Ah SWMBO has reviewed the post and says that the area should be thoroughly cleaned first with hot water and flash to remove any surface residues, and then the enzyme.

Actually it often gets asked on here in relation to removing the smell of diesel fuel rather than poo, but the answer is the same. The enzyme will actually digest the odour, not mask it, so it will work on any organic based smell. I seem to remember Brendan being the man to ask.

I have read 'Marine Sanitation - Fact vs. Folklore' but it is all about the plumbing and pipes. We have fixed the leak and the pipes etc are the right ones. It's the left over smell I am trying to get rid of. I have found a bilge cleaner product, and the odour gel stuff, just not sure what actually works and don't want to waste money buying something that won't do the job.

Hoping someone here has had the same problem and found a solution rather than spending money on a book. I am learning quickly to be tight with money, so I can spend it on the right things. :D;)

In which case you need to get rid of the dried out poopy water still in the boat ie clean it thoroughly. Sorry but you have only two choices - mask the pong or get rid of the pongy substances.

Thats all done. Cleaned and dried then repeated.. Just need the enzyme stuff to get rid of the remaining pong factor.. :D Off to the pet shop tomorrow...
