Of on my first week holiday on the boat next week (weather permitting) plan is to visit Brighton and Eastbourne for a couple of day. I am aware of the NTM at Brighton in regards to entrance at Low water, any other advice about this trip and things I should avoid on the passage? Any advice would be appreciated.

well that picture paints a 1000 words! I thought it was just the entrance by the look of it its the whole marina! I have a draft of 1.1m This could be interesting if I stay there

It is a fairly straight forward passage - From Gosport just assess the sea state as when you are near selsey bill you should only attempt going between street and boulder if it is below F4 - if above that or wind against tide then you must go south of Pullar. Watch out for lobster pots near Worthing/Brighton although most of them have flags there.

In Brighton marina, if it is blowing SE and if it was above F4 then I would consider continuing to Eastbourne - Newhaven is also a good shelter if you had just missed a good weather window.

Don't expect too much in Brighton marina - apart from loads of restaurants; the building work can be a bit offputting these days...

not a lot on offer at brighton now a lot of shops have shut down, mostly clothes shops left,
we draw 3ft 6, and woke on sun morning to find the props in the mud. made me appreciate Eastbourne a bit more.

Thanks for that very helpful its neaps next week so i could be safe on the grounding but brighton marina sounds like a dive. Would thought withe the money in brighton that it would have been better

Low water roughly 12 .30 plan your arrival 1 hr either side of LW and no issue , there is dredging being carried out, but radio in on CH 80 and the staff will advise details

If possible book a berth on the East jetty away from the building works and visitors berths
Once all tied up nicely , have a stroll into Brighton or get the no 7 bus and enjoy the atmosphere in the lanes

If you have young kids at low waster walk over to the East beach behind the boat yard plenty of crabbing to be add in the rock pools.
