GORE GFO shaft packing

I saw this in the RS catalogue. I got their literature and it claims to be much better than standard packing, runs cooler, wears slower, virtually no drips....BUT its got graphite in it. I've read elsewhere this a no-no. Gore has evidence it is used by the US Navy and US Coastgaurd so you'd think it's pretty good and trouble free ??
Any experiences of it??
I've also got some "Drip Free Packing" kits from the US, that I'm going to try - anybody used that??

I'm interested in this drip free packing stuff, as my shafts are worn and this apparently helps in that regard.

Colin - I got mine from Western Pacific Trading, California, contact Jack Laurain in customer sales on <jlaurain@n2.net> cost for 2 kits to suit my 1.5" shaft was $38 per kit plus $22 shipping. They call it drip-free moldable packing. Havent used it yet but it loks like it'll be good and Nigel Calder rates it!!
Good luck - Malcolm.

Do you still have to give the greaser tube a twist every so often or is that made unecessary with this stuff?

I think you would still need to use the greaser since the DFP is located between rings of standard packing material. I havent tried it yet though.
