My 38 has an LPG heater system - I do not use and it will be removed at some stage ...

The exhaust for it exits the side stbd deck just ahead of the masy stays. It had a stainless steel tophat cover that clipped in place .... a wave must have flipped it off on way back from Gotland couple days ago ... now the grill is letting in water ...

Metals guy will visit and measure up to create a new stainless steel tophat for it and we will also devise a better fixing for it ...

The tophat was held just be clipping bottom outer edge under the three selftapper screw heads ! Not exactly stormproof !

I considered a canvas cover - but in the end decided to make a proper cover ..

My 25ft'r has a circular hole from a removed item in the deck. That despite the well fitting plate, resin and sealant ... is not what I would like to repeat on the 38.

The cost of the new 'tophat' will not be so high that makes me consider not doing it. Its not as if I'm using some UK based marine fabricator.
Also if I do remove all - incl the 'flue' - would be nice to have a full set if someone wants to buy it.

Leaves bloody big hole in deck ! My idea of removal was to remove the system below deck ... leave the above deck part till later ...

It was suggested to me that my Diesel Heater might be able to use the 'flue' ...
Had same vent from propane heater on my boat. Used it for my Chinaspacher but it made surrounding nonslip very grubby. I moved vent to topsides. Much easier to get soot etc of smooth gel coat.

Just wrap some duct tape round it. They do it in white to vaguely match the cabin top.

I absolutely detest Duct Tape .... once it starts separating into its layers - leaving that awful gungy mess behind .. that I have not found any Glue REmover handle yet ...

I did think about Aluminium foil tape ... but its getting it nicely applied - the item is tapered etc ...
