Lately Google changed something and since It detects I am in Greece it changes everything into Greek language. I can not read or speak Greek, can not even read the characters.
So for search I had to change to Bing.
I now saw that even Google translator witch is a good tool is all Greek. Can´t use it anymore.
Tried to do some resetting, language and so, Google keeps putting everything in Greek.
Even settings is in Greek, so of no use to me.

Anyone know how to change ?

Use google.co.uk instead of google.com. The .com version automatically appears in the language of the country where the IP address is located. The .co.uk server is always in English.

That may work for google search but does nothing to everything else been in Greek. Even my setting page is in Greek although preferred language is English.
Google talk, Google translate, all Greek haba haba.

If I sail to Turkey and take some Wi-Fi, everything will change into Turkish. Or Albanian.

The only thing I can think of is to sign into google through a UK based proxy server & see if that does the trick.

For sure a puter geek will be along shortly who will know exactly how to do it :)

Have to explain, I am logged into the Wi-Fi of a Greek restaurant. So I can understand that Google wants me to read Greek advertising, but please, in a language I can read.

I am good at five languages, could even express myself in Turkish a few years ago.
Brain cells vanished, Greek to difficult to learn. Even the characters are different in different locations. And the dialect, different from town to town.

Last week I found myself moored between two fishing boats. One from Ermioni, one from Hydra.
I showed them a net of Wulks that I had just gathered. I know the Greek name is Porphўra.

So the Ermioni guy smiles his cap up and says “ Profidad”
The Hydra fisher rubs his belly and says “ Me ouzo me ouzo”
Two totally different words for snails.

What browser do you use? If it's Chrome go into Settings, then Advanced Settings, then Language and Input Settings. Make sure the first language in the list is English (United Kingdom).

This happens to me all the time. You need to change the search settings.

The problem is, if everything is shown in Greek and you can't read Greek, you may find it hard to change the settings :)

If you are using google.gr usually the settings is at the bottom right Ρυθμισεις

Try the first option on the menu to get the search settings, Ρυθμισεις αναζητησης then you need to look for Γλωσσα for Language - probably 2nd or 3rd option. You should be able to select English, which will be in English.

Tried everything. Changed settings and advanced settings of Google account, Google search, Firefox.
Restarted OS. No change. This morning search worked in English. ( Maybe Google needs to sleep over it )
Greek stays the language of Google translate so I dumped it. Unworkable. Lots of other translators.
Google search works ( for now ), English language.
Thanks to all.

You can add parameters to Google's URL to change its behaviour. The one I remember is ncr for 'no country redirect'
http://www.google.com/ncr

There's also hl and tl for host language and target language. Google for a list.

If I were in your shoes I think I'd check all language and region settings, starting with Windows and working up to the browser. Do other browsers do the same thing? If they do it's possibly a Windows setting...
