Google aerial images

I deduce the images were taken either on Sunday 9th April or 23rd April. The wind was blowing largely Easterly. Approx between 12 and 1pm ;)

Assuming the local area was updated at the same time, it must have been taken between the 11th of March and the 11th of April. My boat is on the hard standing, and those were the dates it was out for.

Interesting - I didn't realise that the flooding of Wallasea actually involved only a minority part of the island. All the foaming on that subject in here recently was about 1/4 of island?

9th April then (init)

1. The scaffolding roof was on by the 3rd April;
2. The boat cover was by the 25th April;
3. It was a Sunday cos:
a. The Barclays Bank car park gates were shut. So it was either a Wednesday, Saturday or Sunday;
b. My neighbour's car is on the drive so it wouldn't be a Wednesday;
'c. There are no builders there for me so it wasn't a Wednesday;
d. The butcher's assistant's car isn't there so it isn't a Saturday;
e. The Yacht Club car park is full so it is a Sunday;
f. Parking outside our house look like grockles so probably a Sunday;
g. One cafe is full, the other is closed so that is a Sunday;
4. The time suggests it is close to midday cos:
a. the shadows at that time of year;
b. pub punters and car parks.
5. It can only be two Sundays cos:
a. the rib in Colliers Reach suggests it is towards HW;
b. HW in Colliers Reach around lunch time only has two Sundays in that period - 9th or 23rd;
6. CLB excludes 23rd April (and anyway HW at Heybridge on 23rd is 10.51 which feels too early for the sun). HW Heybridge on the 9th is 12.33 @5.66m and the tide looks pretty full. But HW at Mersea is 12.10 and the tide is still flooding. And pubs are not open until 1200. The car park of the Old Ship has cars assembling ergo -

Somewhere twix 1145 and 12 noon on Sunday 9th April, 2017. Ha, I've just seen the date on Google 4.9.2017 (it's in Latin)! Honest I only looked after I worked it out. Honest. :o:o

Ha, I've just seen the date on Google 4.9.2017 (it's in Latin)!

I'm impressed
That was a good game while it lasted.
but my browser just shows c 2017
I've yet to find the date
That would be useful on some other areas/maps

In Google Earth it has the date rather than the Google Maps view. But I didn't open G Earth until I had tried to zoom further and like you on Maps it just said the year.

That's 'cos they didn't get anywhere near as much spoil from Crossrail as they originally expected and even if they'd got the lot it wasn't the half of what they need to finish the project

Noticed the same on the moorings where I am moored yesterday. It's updated to reflect the current boats moored whereas, last time I looked, the boats moored were from before 2011.

Sad how long you can spend looking at the roof of your boat..... solar panel, mushrooms, lifering.....
