It looks as if we have sold our boat. The last four years have been challenging in various ways and the use and welfare of the boat came a long way down the list, with the result that she'd become a bit neglected. In the circumstances, we got a fair price and the new owner got a good deal. I believe she's being moved to Poole when the money has gone through (it's with the broker at the moment). so if you see her down there any time, give her a wave from me.

Not sure what comes next, though I still hope to get on the water from time to time. We still have a Mirror Dinghy but she, too, needs some tlc, which I'm hoping I will be able to deliver over the winter. So it goes .....

It's always sad to hear about folks who can't use their pride and joy anymore, for whatever reason.
All the very best for being able to turn your above wish into reality soon!

Hi, James - I used to enjoy your contributions on here and am sorry to hear that things haven't been good. Hope you can get some use out of that Mirror dinghy. I started out in one of those (sail no. 35655 - if memory serves) and I'm not sure if there is a pound for pound better way of enjoying being on the water. All the best.

25028 was my sail number , and yes I’d agree with you there about the £4£ value , some great times in mine , sadly though you do get very wet.

I bought an Osprey with a hole in it for £100.

£200 in fibreglass and paint. Went round the IOW twice in it!

Best £300 ever spent. I was 17 and wasn’t bothered about getting wet....and had no other half to complain.....good times!

Best of luck jhr....put a seagull on your mirror.....it’s a motorboat then :)

Thanks - I already have an elderly Mariner 2 hp, so we're good to go. I was thinking of getting a Seagull, but I already have an anchor for the dinghy :). Thanks everyone, for your sympathy. Hopefully it's a pause not a full stop.
