There was a thread on covering up your grotty sticky fenders... I reckon that replacing them every 2 or 3 years is a better bet. It could even be cheaper - see this eBay ref: web page
Made to measure fenders do some clever customised ones which let you have your sailing club or boat name actually moulded into the plastic so they don't rub off

I still have 3 of my original 4 fenders sold with the boat new 24 years ago. I am only missing one cause some tealeaf nicked it. whereas the standard white sausage ones only seem to last about 5 years.
