Good Value Boat heaters

funny thread that...

as I said have no reason to buy one, but now as soon as Trevor and Dennis report that they're ok (which I'm pretty sure they will!) I'll get a Liverpool one just for the hell of it :p
fit it in the garage so that I can work some cold evenings if I have to!

The Eberspacher D2 on my previous boat was a total heap of junk. In 5 years it never worked properly and barely 6 month went by without a 'specialist' getting it going again. I totted up the bills - in total £1458.34 was spent fixing, servicing and generally keeping the old heap going.

Two lessons. 1) replace it and 2) replace with something not made so badly its not fit for purpose!

A friend has fitted one of these £120 jobs to his allotment shed - he swears by it so far and it works as it should.

Maybe the reliable big boys need to up their game

Off total topic - we bought a MG ZS SUV. Made in China, engineered in UK. What an amazing piece of kit. Top spec, everything electric and leather inside to run the kids to school - £16K with a 7 year 80K warranty. The Chinese are on the up and now competing with the best - Trump knows it too which is why there is a trade stand off happening right now.

Don’t you buy one vas......you’ll take it apart and find a way to make it run on water :)

Having watched the news last night about Huawei phones I will of course make sure that there are no listening devices in the unit sending information back to China :)

Many thanks for the support guys.... I will indeed report how I get on with it and if I think it is crap I will indeed say so

If you hadn't spent so much time chatting on the forum Dennis, you would have completed the trials, had your report peer reviewed and published your findings!!!

Trevor is also testing one as you know but the beer consumed by us during and after may affect the accuracy of the findings

Yes please! I would be very interested in hearing your thoughts on how crap/not crap these are. If you can make the reports as amusing as this thread that would be a bonus!

Test away and if it's good news please get on here and tell us.

Alternatively, if it's bad news could you leave a note for your wives to get on here and tell us! :)

I came on here to share some information about a product and try and help others about that and I am faced with an incredible barrage of arrogance from people who clearly feel that they have the right to tell others what to do...………. Please tell me why you think you have that right

Hello pot, this is kettle, request colourcheck, over.

Dennis - BB, knew I had a log on somewhere :-)

looking forward to the results of the test assuming the sky doesnt fall in on you, let us know when DDay is scheduled - I can be on stand by to come over and claim salvage on that shiny Sealine anytime, and have been known to do a bit of CPR and burn trauma care as well if needed. :-)

To the post re how does China get away with copies? - China has (or didnt have ) any counterfeit laws, or intellectual property rights as a result they just go ahead and make it/sell/ebay it - unless you want WW3 whos going to stop them - Trump cant. Thats not a statement on quality just design so good luck on the trial TBH some of the chinese crap I've ordered has been just as good as UK sold crap (CE or otherwise) made in china at 3 times the price.

We are currently shiveringly awaiting a new Eberspaecher D5 to be delivered to the main dealer from Poland, hopefully to be fitted before xmas.as promised but who knows. Would be tempted by a cheapo knock off but concerned about spares availability past day 3, even thought about buying 6 knock offs , 5 for spares and still saving muchos squids. Have had 3 eberspachers over the years on different boats and current one was the first to even work on command until it too went terminally tits up.

Perhaps not such a hard competition for the Chinese then ?

According to the Royal Mail tracking number I should receive my heater tomorrow, but Royal Mail website doesn't recognise the tracking number.

So will it or won't it arrive tomorrow ?

Excited - not really as I won't be going to the office to receive until Thursday.

If it arrives soon Trev are you fitting it over Christmas? I'll be down in a flash to learn as I want to fit a 5 kW one to Zoom!
