Good restaurants near Chelmsford

Italian, family and good atmosphere - Piero's in Ingatestone

Personally - for the event you suggest I'd book a table at Piero's - something for everyone and fairly intimate - ie good for conversation. Smiths gets loud at times...

Also the Lion at Boreham, no booking just arrive and they find you seats. Linked with the Blue Strawberry.

I'd avoid Zara's in Danbury unless you like rude staff and bad indian food. A much better Indian restaurant is Nirvana in Ingatestone.

+1 for the Lion in Boreham and The Hoop in Stock is also good.

Very surprised always found Zara staff to be friendly and helpful and food excellent. Busy all the time so cannot be that bad?

I had a bad experience recently and, having then checked trip advisor, found plenty of others with similar experiences.
