Suprisingly I recieved a "Good read for Christmas".

As its a hard back, I rather suspected that it had come from one of those tables of rather enticingly cheap books that no one ever reads from the garden center.

However..

I never realised tha Griff Rhys Jones was yachtsman, let alone the owner of a rather nice timber 'classic'., Anyway 'To the Baltic with Bob' is his account of a recent Summer Cruise to St Petersberg with various family and friends.

Lots of nice humour, and experiences particular and recognisable to most people over the age of 40. Reassuringly grumpy!

Recommend. And a single word about sponcership either!!

It was a full-price hardback before Crimble at £18.99, but is now in WH Smiths and Ottokars at half price in their sales (and probably in other shos as well).

Quite agree, a very enjoyable read. Particularly enjoyed the good humoured insights into the various "cultures" of the Baltic States.

Yes it was good but "detuned" for the wider market I thought. I just read Gerald Seymour´s latest thriller, can´t remebe name. Lots of interesting stuff about that coast (Kaliningrad). Good stuff.
