Good news for some East Coast sailors

Says something similar in EADT today, however it still does not sound definite, only more likely that tolls will not be imposed. I don't trust government.

Told you so.

No appetite for cost increases in any form at the moment.

Pips have squeaked, and are at the limit of elastic deformity.

I'm a squeaking pip :-)

if it comes to pass that tolls aren't imposed I'll be happy but equally I can't say as a charge of a quid or two was going to make a significant difference to my finances

an additional three or four quid added to the overall cost of each trip to the boat on return for a significant reduction in the journey time? I could live with it

£4 A WEEK FOR 25 WEEKS IS £100 OR £140 YOU NEED TO EARN MORE PER YEAR.

To me, that is an extra day a year I need to work. They all add up.....

Well if I was able to get down to the boat every week for 25 weeks I'd be a very happy bunny!

The reality is that next years plans offer up 14 trips to and from the boat and £42, whilst not to be sniffed at, represents less than 1% of the annual costs involved in owning, running and cruising Erbas

Don't get me wrong, I'll be chuffed if they don't apply a toll but it wasnt going to be the end of the world that some were predicting if they did

Admittedly we only go "up North" a couple of times a year to visit our son in Lancaster, but we always use the M6 toll, it saves not just time but a truly awful section of motorway. Also the service area is not bad compared to some others and is handily placed regarding distance for us. Just don't buy fuel there.

If they dualled the rest of the a428 across to the a1, the problem would go away....

Seldom go that way now after 3 years of uni trips to and from Manchester before toll road built. But the one time recently we did go up there, we used it, expensive but possibly worth every penny, we thought. Not surprised they are losing money, it was virtually empty.

It is the virtual emptiness that makes it so attractive. :D
