Does anyone know of a good motoer boat surveyor who's recognised by the finance companies and doesn't charge the earth to carry out a survey in Chichester please?

Just a thought - have you considered what Google can do?
I typed in 'marine surveyor chichester' and a list of names came up.
All you have to do then is contact some (all?) of them, ask them for their rates, and if they are recognised by a particular finance institution.
And then make a decision.
As for 'inexpensive' - everybody has a different view as to what is inexpensive or not.
Just shop around and form your own decision.

For a surveyor with letters after his/her name you will pay good money and get good service.

Some so called surveyors are little more that people of good boat knowledge that are surveying for money, after all anyone can be a surveyor of pleasure craft without any marine qualifications at all, being a member of the institute of marine surveyors doesnt show any qualification at all.

If you want a proper surveyor with letters after his name you need, Paul homer, Bill Dunlop, Tony statonbevan, these 3 i know of.

I also have experience of Rob Perrys work on ripsters new boat, he came up with a massive list and has good engine knowledge as his report said.

Thanks

Cheers,

that reduces the length of the list I'd have just using the yellow pages. Always better to go on personal recommendation and that's what these forums are for.

Our family has used Simon May 3 or 4 times now, always been happy in his informative and thorough approach. He was also competitive on costs last time I used him.
