Good idea how to make a fender board.

Whilst researching making a fender board, I found this clever way to attatch the ropes as it leaves one side clear of any rope. Thought it might be useful for anyone else needing a fender board.

Use a hole cutter, about 30 mm, to drill through the board about 25 mm below the rope entry hole. Tie the knot inside the large hole. All of the rope is then inside the board and cannot chafe.

Good idea! I've used very long drill bits, but they are not common. Another way is to drill a largeish hole about in the middle and hide the knot in the hole.

Then you need to secure the fender on the reverse side with loops. I actually hang the boards from the fenders, but ither way.
