Got me one of those Maplin colour underwater cctv cameras from Mrs H at Xmas. Having got something wrapped around the prop and the boat still in the water, thought I might try it out this weekend (probably Sunday)

Anyone else in Ipswich Haven/Foxes needs to check anodes etc. why not pm me.

Anyone else got one and have any tips for use or expected viz in the crystal clear waters of the Costa del Orwell :)

It has LED lighting so should be fun for fish/seal/rusty bike spotting!!!!

yes in Foxs
it should work ok as JB is ashore :D

As somebody else mentioned never put away wet and always rinse.
Screen is not very bright so in bright sunlight can be a pain!
Tie wrap the camera to a long boat hook............works best for me.
When you use expect a lot of people to come and investigate what you are doing and then put their requests in :-)
Always disconnect the battery when not in use and keep charged

Hi Habbety
We're just down the river at Foxs.
As a diver, I have been in the water in the Haven to recover bits of fibreglass fittings from someone's boat. It was pretty clear.
Here at Fox's it is not so clear, especially if it has been raining as you get all the silt off the land further up Belstead Brook coming through. I have been under my boat to change a prop shaft anode that was fouling, collected some bits of a classic boat that the owner dropped over the side (that was in the silty mud - no fun) and removed a mooring line a visiting Belgian had got round one of his props - not our favourite Belgian though - no sign of Duvel anywhere!

It Works!

I can recommend the Maplin underwater colour cctv camer, got a nylon sheet off the prop using the camera gaffer taped to a boat hook - brilliant!!
Spent the rest of the afternoon observing the flora and fauna at the bottom of Ipswich wet Dock about 7m down. The light worked well in the relatively clear water, amazing how clean the bottom was with shrimp, crabs sea squirts and other odds and sods down there.

Look forward to dunking it in a few other spots over the summer :) :)

Nice to meet you, Pete.

Shame we were too pressed for time to see your new gadget in action.

Some day soon...
