Going in!

Good stuff - a very tidy looking Snappie unless I'm mistaken.

Yup, a 27. Been a lot of work, mainly the previous owner who did a fantastic job with the engine. Finally got it in the water in Wells and took it for a spin on Friday. I had not sailed a bilge keeler before and was prehaps a bit sniffy about them; however I have to say it sails really well. Sure, old John wont win any races but it wasnt the caravan I was led to expect. So roll on the summer!

BTW: Realised that the wind indicator is a bit stiff and will only point at force 4s and above. The only way I can think of lubricating it is to moor John on the quay wait for low tide then fill up a water pistol with dw40 or something and try and squirt it. I dont think this is really goiung to be practical though it might be a laugh.
Does anyone have any sensible solutions that dont involve climbing up the mast?

Forumite Cervinia has a Snappie 26 in Bradwell.

There's quite a few on the main forum.

I don't think that squirted WD40 all over your deck and canvas work would be much of a laugh! Some proper lubricant would be better for the job. I'm sure someone in Wells will go up the mast if you won't. There's a few Wellsites on here. (Tommyrot and Bastonjock at least).

ok... I wasnt *completely* serious about the water pistol idea... Just wondering if there wasnt a simple solution I hadnt thought of.

A couple of years I believe. Nice to give it a new lease of life...

Are there any other snappie owners on the forum?

Yup, I'm the proud owner of a Snappie 23 complete with very suspect blue paint job. (For now!)

The Snappie invasion fleet is growing! :)

Unless I am very much mistaken, the options are simple, climb it, drop it, or pull it over. Basically get the top over to the side by pulling on the halyards, best done when you're up high like on a harbour wall, so you don't need to pull it all the way
I could be wrong though
