Some of you may know about my saga with my last boat ... one that actually still has a final chapter to close but here I am forgetting all that and posting a video of the launch of my new boat.

I know its a sailing boat but I have travelled to the 'light side' over the last three years - a sort of pilgrims progress and am about to start a circumnavigation of the world.

Anyway for those who are interested to see the new boat this is the ten minute video of its launch:-

Thanks for posting the link here Paul, many of us would have missed it otherwise.
I wish you well on your adventures.

Bon Voyage

Pete

ps
I still think 'Chapels and Anchor ' would have made a fine name for her.

Great boat Gludy, hope you get to enjoy her.
May I suggest one of these as a worthwhile purchase.

"May I suggest one of these as a worthwhile purchase."

That had me doubled over! :-)

Of course, me new boat weighs about 13,000 kg but because of her construction could actually be easily kept up by the WaterBuoy using exactly the same principle that WaterBouy use to lift the rather large low density 1 KG weight in the image!!!

So why bother with a life raft .... all I need to fit is a WaterBuoy to each corner and I am totally safe!!!!

That's great Paul. The slipway looked only just wide enough.

Where is she now still in Cape St Francis ?
I took my new boat from Johannesburg to Durban back in August. That took 10 hours.

Still in Durban and hope to start sailing mid 2010.

Excellent, gludy. Here's hoping this one goes better than the previous 2;) I'm surprised to see that she only weighs 13t. I know weight saving is an issue with cats; do St Francis use particular light weight materials? Where do you plan to go on your circumnavigation?

Thanks for the good wishes.

She will be in Port St Francis until end of January then Cape Town - leave Caope Town about mid February - St Helena - Brazil - Grenada - then in hurricane season Trinidad and Columbia.

After we have learnt to sail her ... which I hope is by then, we will take her through the canal with an aim to end up in Micronesia.

Her basic weight is 12 tons. She is made of lightweight composites and is designed even with both hulls holed all the way along to sink in less than a foot. Most modern cats are made this way.

There are many more videos about her build, test sail etc on the multihulls forum but she does sport a full broadcast standard video studio and the plan is a TV series as well as a series of DVD's.

Great stuff, Paul. Suliere looks fab.

Can you imagine taking a tractor with a monster cat with half a dozen people walking round the decks on the roads in the UK?

Are you still in touch with Andy Ball? He doesn't seem to post on here any more. If you are, please wish him a happy Christmas from me.

Hello Paul..Long Time...

Hi Paul,

Nice to see you posting on the forum again.
Ive only been back on here myself for about a month, after buying another boat.
Your cat looks terrific.
We need to catch up, PM me or email me or ring me if you still have my number.

Let me know all the goss, where you are now and what you are doing.

Have a good Xmas

Steve and Mal.

Sorry not in touch with Andy who I think has packed in boating.

Hi Steve and Mal.
We are at the same number but will be gone in a week or two to begin the adventure.
We have no real news about the marina - we left there a few years back.
Happy Xmas to you both.

Sorry to barge in like this and excuse the pun.

I would like to wish the Major felicitations and offer him my slipper to sip from, the drinks on me.

Tinkicker said you were partial to the odd tipple from ladies footwear.

Merry Christmas.

Thanks Paul, lovely boat and I wish you much luck and safe adventures on her. Nice video, and nice to see that Lesley could ride on the road trip - none of the h&s nonsense you'd get over here!

I've spent some time on tcm's cat, also a 50er, so know how much space you have there!

I had propshield put on a while ago and it worked reasonably well though wasn't cheap. I have before/after pics I could dig out and post

Educate me on one thing - do cats like this size tend not to have bowthrusters fitted? I couldn't see one on your boat? Wouldn't it be useful to move the boat pure sideways on/off berths?
