Noticed that my electric charges have gone down to 7.9p per Kwh, (think it was 16p per Kwh previously). It seems that BWML have done a deal with their electric suppliers and passed it on to bertholders.

Havent checked, but I think this is lower than my rates at home.... if so, Three Cheers for British Waterways!!!

Low price per KW is one thing but who would wish to berth a yacht in Glasson Dock with the restrictions on movement due to the tidal opening of the lock. It's better to pay a little more and have access to sail as you wish.

Shore power

British Waterways are not always so generous, this year they have been charging £5 a night to customers for shorepower at Crinan. Oddly in the Cally they charge £2.

Me!! :)

Seriously though..... as a winter berth it's an excellent location, with a very good yard attached.

Dont forget the pubs and the fact that the marina staff are very helpful.

I wont be there this winter but I may be tempted to visit and test the pub again. Actually there will probably be a few that would like to try it again!

All the best

glasson meetup

How about a pre Christmas bash instead? I'm coming back from Portugal for two weeks in early December and will be in Lancashire around 8-14th December (booked up on 12th). I'm intending to visit Glasson sometime during the period....

(my bro. was one of the founders of Glasson sailing club, so old memories....)

So lets get started on organising a 'See the New Year in, in Glasson' bash, I'm up for it, who else ? :)

You never know.
Could be 'The Return of Mucky Farter' or---
'Mucky Farters World Cruise - Part Two'.

Or-- if Little Ship really wants to 'do the pubs'
He could set off just after the North Wales Frostbite meet and get there just in time for Christmas:D

Best thing about Glasson is that money seems a bit of a nuisence. Cost us nowt for the first three weeks by the car park and I was disapointed with the £5 electric card, cos after three weeks, left most of it behind.

Went back to the shop four times to pay. One time I eventually managed to pay for the diesel, not easy but after jumping through hoops got there. Debs a week or two later, managed to pay for the marina for a week or so, about £50, No idea where the bill for lift out or power wash and scrub went, or the stuff from the chandlery. There were proceedures to follow as I remember, alot of form filling but none involving money. It's worth a trip back, if you can find it, it dont appear on any chart plotter or map, well not the right way anyway.

Last time I was at Glasson two British Waterway's "workers" sat in a van by the lock. When I asked to be locked in they said they were only there to lock people out. They stayed for 3 hours then drove off without a single customer. I stayed in the outer dock for nowt.

Much as I would delight in getting anything in to gear with Caroldevon, I have to say the following;
Pay attention at the back there !

If you peruse the Fostbite in Cearnarfon thread you will see that I SHALL BE ATTENDING, where as Caroldevon will not even be in the country, much less the county.
I simply noted Tom's input to this thread and thought I would post a 'merry quip' but then the 'Ancient Briton' get involved and all of a sudden, 'you don't do it like that' :D:D:D

Anyway, enjoy yourself. p.s. it is a restaurant in Cearnarfon isn't it? Or are we all getting takeaway and 'dossing' on Littleship and Mucky F?

Mal:)

p.p.s. That is how you spell Carnarvon in Ancient Briton isn't it

Little ship is out of bounds as the SFWADogs have decided that it's about time MF and the newly obtained Mirrormile had some forum abuse............... anyway I still haven't managed to fill the bloody drinks cabinet from the forums last visit
