really cheeses me off, what a con this no claims discount affair is. My NCD percentage has increased due to making no claims last year but my premium's gone up, wtf!! They'll no doubt have some lame excuse about their costs have risen so premiums have had to rise too. I've been a good boy, the only direction money went last year was from my pocket to theirs so why do I have to pay more this friggin chuffin woofin bloody year? :( I feel a ranty phone call to them coming on, demanding my goody two shoes rewards or I'll leave them and find my reward elsewhere :(

If anyone finds a dummy on the floor IT'S MINE!!! :)

Sorry. It's my fault. You have to contribute to my £9200 claim that they paid out without quibbling last year.

Just to make you feel better ... the value of your boat has probably fallen yet they still base some of the premium on the declared value when you first took out the policy.

Oh.

There are many Ins threads here to search

Gary, I've been with them for years, all you need to do is the same as I did, get another quote from somewhere else, I got one from premier marinas underwriter, speak to gjw, email it to them then they will match it, I got over£100 off my renewal quote.

respect the sentiment but nooooooooooooooooo don't encourage that, I used to frequent another forum for a different passtime and there were more posts saying, "search the forum for subject this that and the other" rather than post it again. in the end it was nothing more than a knowledge base with no interaction.. it died!!!

thanks Paul, great advice!

GJW are the best:)

I just had a quote from another Insurance company that was waaaaay below what they wanted. I asked if they could get close as 'better the devil you know' an all that. They came back with a very close offer so I stuck with them. So, go and get another quote and if its cheaper then they will often try and get close or match.

what they're really doing then is chancing their arm and hoping muggins here will accept a higher premium without question. if they're as good as everone says, they'll know the quote other insurance companies are giving and will know they're taking the pee somewhat. I know why they don't give out their most competitive quote from the off (for the reasons stated) but it does make it frustrating that you have to play the game and jump through the hoops to get their best offer

My premium on 1 of my policy's with GJW has been the same for over 4 years now and another has dropped so have never asked for a better price when I get the renewal through.
One thing I learnt with Towergate was to adjust the insured value as the boat got older as that would make a difference and they only pay market value anyway so no point insuring for more.

Gary, I have gone with Amlin with my Snazi. They quoted about 50% of the price of HKJ, my previous insurer. Small print seems good. They are a Lloyds syndicate.
