Giving up sailing - Khamsin needs a new owner

It is a decision I will have to make in the next year or three, so I understand what a break it must be.

We had a Fred Parker-designed Mystere for many years. The Parker boats included some motor boats. The sailing boats tended to look like wooden ones made of plastic (except of course for the wooden ones made of wood). There was one odd design that had a step in the deck, but they could all be identified by Parker's characteristic squiggle at the bow end of the cove line. There is probably a name for this.
There is a name for the "squiggle" but try as I might I can't find the note in my files.
I was told about the squiggle by a surveyor (down Clyde way, I think but forgotten his name). Apparently on the first Javelin the guy charged with hand-painting the squiggle got the first side correct but reversed the second side.
I can't see how this would happen from a "moulded" craft - but it made an interesting story; and if anyone out there has a Javelin30, go check the cove-line squiggles - you may have the Number 1 boat (y) If anyone finds that boat, please post on here.

Be damned if I can find the Khamsin... sold already?

I don't know that Robert has formally put her on the market. If you read his original post....."If anyone reading this is interested in her, or knows of someone who might be, then contact me, please."

Yeah but then someone said they found her through a quick google only one I could find appears to have been withdrawn. That said, advisement heeded.

We were rafted with you in Littlehampton during your RB. Sorry to hear you are having to pack it in but I understand completely. We livaboard but it definitely gets harder year on year. I reckon I have two or three years left to make a graceful exit, made even more complicated by the current madness.
Very best wishes.

Are you thinking of Yarmouth, I.O.W.? I don't think I have ever been to Littlehampton.
Are you Ilios ? or the one outside of me?

I have a feeling that the squiggle is probably called something boring, such as 'flourish'.

I've heard the identifying detail such as this, or the Chinese dragon on a Fife, or the Swan arrow, being called a scrollmark, but looking it up in the dictionary it doesn't seem to be a recognized word.

Well, that's it. Khamsin has been bought by a member of this Parish.
I've had ten wonderful years with her, and a huge amount of help, fun, warnings, banter and chat with you all.
Thank you.

I'm hauling down my ensign and coming ashore.
You will find me hereabouts while I prop-up the virtual bar in the virtual YBW Club House.
Great times, great friends made. Time to move on.
Keep in touch, have fun, sail safe, get back to shore happy and exhilarated.
A bientot, not au revoir,
Fair winds and kind waters to you all
Robert

Best wishes. I *think* we met briefly on a Clyde meet (or maybe I'm mixed up) but either way you're one of the better posters here IMHO so I hope you stick around.

There's always OPBs and charters.

I've just read a post somewhere else on YBW this morning where the poster included the boat name "Khamsin" in their sig but I did not make the connection.

I have now. Luminescent! :)

Congratulations on the sale and hope to see you in here again. (y)

Yep, I was the one that bought her, Robert has been a most gracious seller to this newbie buyer and the deal was completed start to finish in about 4 months since this thread started! Would have been quicker if not for Covid-19. From seeing her up close, she is a very pretty boat and there have already been a number of compliments my way. I hope to be enjoying her as soon as possible!

Onwards and upwards for the Khamsin, looking forwards to at least another 10 years in commission!
