Gibratar: which marina?

Thanks for all this.

You all have me fretting about boat damage now... but needs must and we are booked in to Marina Bay from Friday of this week for a couple of weeks. We've had our first practice at med mooring (stern to- have to get dog on and off!) in Ceuta where we are now.

Praying for good weather... :-))

Light to moderate westerlies forecast so far, rain should end Thursday!

Top tip before leaving Ceuta- butane in the 907 size cylinders is only 6 euros at the diesel dock, cheapest anywhere around here.

Avagood trip.

Light to moderate westerlies my foot. We just had a horrid night here in ceuta.. unexpectedly (ads far i was concerned - but missed the late spanish met warning) gusting to 60 knots (don't trust windfuinder and windguru!). A couple of boats with quite some damage... fortunately only minor damage to us (another bit of toerail missing .. arghhh).

Thanks for the tip re. butane- will go and see if a bottle is the right size for my locker.. we're lliving on camping gas at the mo.

Um, that was the forecast for Friday.....and largely still is, maybe an odd shower very early morning.

Have you seen the forecast posted outside the marina office? They sometimes need a prod to get the latest.

Also listen VHF channel 10 Even hour UTC + 15 mins. All ships call on 16 first, often a bit late if traffic working. Normally good reception in Ceuta.

Happy intercontinental sailing!

Hi from a new member to the forum. This thread has scared me a bit! I am coming to Gibraltar on Sunday/Monday to look at a boat in Queensway Marina.... hope it isn't damaged! Like the sound of an Indian though. I am staying in the Bristol Hotel nearby so any advise now and when I am there would be great.

Don't worry! Its winter in North Europe, no worse here than anywhere else and often better.

Worth a look up the High street for low duty swag.

Enjoy your stay and good luck with the boat
