Gib- Southampton crew wanted

crew list so far

1. "Trazie", and she has done the trip
2. burgundyben who has jumped over big waves on powerboats.
3. Pat the cockney-irish diesel mechanic who has also done the trip
4. ?

plus me. Run 2 watches of 2 peeeps, plus me as spare. In this weather we should be able to run offshore 20 miles and overnight, dive into harbour for fuel, get food, then bog off again.

solitaire, davesnelson, ianainge, peppermint, moose are all keen but can't do it around these dates, so thanks to all these, maybe come on plan B. I must admit this is incredbly short notice - harhar to crewseekers. This is a loads better site!

you need to get a flight to malaga saturday or sunday early. PM me. I pay for flights.

You perhaps "chip in" on food/drinks here and there, and may have to pay yer way back be4 i reimburse so don't be utterly brassick.

With this weather we should be back soonish. It is 60 ish hours running, plus 6 hours to chuck fuel in. Soi wednesday is possible. In any case, we'll be back by the following w/e cos spending that long would mean the weather or boat has blown up.

If anyone can tell me where to get one of those iridium things like wot priddy's crew had on his rtw fishfarm/storm-finding trip, lemme know and i will report back enroute.

1. What boat is this exactly and how old is she?
It's a leopard sport 23metre. 2 years old, more info on http://www.diana23.com

2. What saftey equipment is available? pretty much everything up to and beyond MCA : flares, 2x liferafts, firfighting gear, engineroom air shutoff, 14 x lifejackets, bilge pumps and more bilge pumps incl primary engine divert, storm parachute, plus helicopter (the helicopter is a lie, actually). There's also some carpet to avoid your toes getting hurt. AND the frying pan has a lid as well. Plus standby frying pan.

3. Would you be able to supply me with a lifejacket (mines aboard another boat). yep.

4. Would you pay me for this along with my expenses! ;-)
I wouldn't pay you for unless you were commercial yachtmaster or above and i wasn't and i was just along for the ride - but seeing as how i am commercial YM as is Trazie and you aren't AND cos it's a jolly wham rather a than money-grubbing trip, nobody gets paid. But i do pay reasonable expenses, like the flights. And the food.

The boat leaves sotogrande sunday afternoon. PM me if still interested.

TCM, are'nt you risking it a bit taking a 23ft boat across Biscay, I know the weather's good, but what if you're whamming along, up pops a whale in front of you yawning his heid aff and before you can say "Baleen!" there you are sat like a bunch of Jonahs .. what sort of Whale extrication equipment do you carry?

I Have The Body Of A God... Buddha

I have a very big boat hook that would tickle the whale, and make him cough. AND i have lots of first aid potions and things to chuck overboard and make him throw up. Good eh?

Bluidy 'ell that's no use .. I shall rush out immediately and buy you the appropriate equipment, just going down to the Happy Shopper in Yorke Rd for some Fray Bentos pies as proscribed(sic) in the Ship Protection & Extrication Whale regulations

Re: Revised list #2

Hi, tried to pm you, but system error blah blah, im based in edinburgh at the moment, so i would need a flight to malaga and flight back to edinburgh from wherever we ended up, i would expect yourself to meet these flight and any associated travel expenses as well as the costs of equiping the boat with food and drink supplies for the intended trip, in other words you get my assistance on this trip and in return it costs me zilch

What time you looking to leave on sunday? as i would aim to arrive in good time to be shown around eveything, understand the gameplan and get a decent nights sleep before departure as it seems apart from fueling your going non stop for 60-70 hrs, so if you can put up with a cockney accent, then i may be interested

Re: Revised list #2

Wonging, I'm in the same boat as you, apart fae the fact ah'm no in Edinburgh, though ma mither came fae Morningside, I might be prepared tae gang alang (or Shangalang a la Bay City Rollers ..also an Edinburgh band) as long as everybody does as I say cos I'm a yotmeister .. I am rather concerned at the lack of orcadic precautions tae foil the beasties, and of course we need to have a copper bottomed guarantee the boat wullnae sink .. ah'm thinkin we need tae charge the bugger 150 Euros pd each plus expenses ... whit dae ye think?

Re: Revised list #2

Jimi, the usual rule is all expenses are paid by the skipper who wants the help, as for a daily fee for making bacon sarnies, the tight bugger wont pay me anything, so he will only get two rashers in his if i go! lol

;-)
