Getting water in Mahon!

Re: Baleares CF Riviera

Don't think there's a comparison - Riviera (that's the part E of Nice) is far more civil and civilised.
Baleareanos are boors.

A tad harsh in my opinion. We were met with friendliness, charm and a great willingness to help. (Often ineffective but the intent was there!!)

Having cruised Spanish waters for the last year my opinion of the Spanish as hosts is much much higher than when I started and I believe they are certainly far ahead of us Brits.

We are now in Tunisia and looking forward to seeing what Greece and Turkey has to offer.

Jonic,

We're heading back towards Palma in a day or two to meet up with some friends, then we'll be heading north to Alcudia for around the 7th Sept. Theres a nice eating house there which SWMBO would like to go to for her b'day. So if your still around then we'll catch and have a beer or two.

Boats called CAPE by the way, a sort of off whitish boat with stuff hanging off it all over the place. You can't miss us!

Re: Baleares CF Riviera

Hi Aberman

Looks like we will miss you as I'm flying back to UK on the 3rd to top up the cruising kitty by selling new Dufours at SIBS. (Mind you not sure how many punters will be there from what I hear re the credit crunch in UK. Is anyone going???)

I think I passed you your painter at the dinghy dock in Mahon last month.

If you do anchor off Alcudia, there is a water tap built into the rocks adjacent to the tables of the bar next to the dinghy dock. Jerry cans only but useful top up each time you come ashore and hardly anyone knows it's there.

Re: Baleares CF Riviera

Just dont let the owners of the cafe catch you, got chased one year going to said tap! Early morning is best, before the cafe opens.
They took the tap handle off for a while,, I used a small adjustable.
However a bottle of cheap rum from Lidls for the marineros, got me unlimited water from the fuel dock for three months! Dont forget your short hose with mallorca self sealing connection!! (available for euro or three at the chandlers there on the dock.

Just as an aside, spend one night, (very cheap) in Cala Ratjada, and fill your tanks there, get to wash down the boat as well, but you need your water attachment.
