Is there any way you can stop your anchor chain from getting snagged while you're out in lumpy, bumpy seas. Last couple of times we've gone to anchor off, the chain has been all knotty and snaggly and nasty and Mr B has had to climb into the chain locker and get it sorted - it takes quite a few lagers and a back massage to calm him down after that.

Re: Maybe you go in rougher seas than me....

Never ever heard that one, except where there are bolt ends or other bits in the locker for the chain to catch on. Also, just a guess, if your locker isn't deep then lumps of chain can be lifted up by the rising bight of chain and hit the windlass, whereas in a deeper locker they tend to fall back down before they're risen as far as the windlass.

Not that practical to deepen the locker or lift the windlass. Better buy bulk lager cheap stuff from Safeways and one of those wheelie massage things or install in your helm one of those front seats from mercedes/bmw with electric silicon bag pump automassage feature, to suppress symptoms. Or tell him to get on with it and stop moaning

Re: high tech answer

Ah! see post in skukklebutt by gunnarsilins. You need a traffic cone pparently. Also handy if you break down, I imagine, and if you get one with flashing yellow light atop you can do muck spreading as well
