Does anyone know if there would be any tax to pay on a boat bought from Germany back to the UK -the advert says 'EU taxed '-'Secondly are there any disadvantages with a German registered boat, other than the cost of getting back to the UK ? Thanks for any advise - Tim

As far as I'm aware, if the VAT (or equivalent) has been paid in the Eu, and the proof is available, then there is no more to be paid.

+1. Copy of original invoice proving VAT has been paid is sufficient. In Belgium You need this to get the boat registerd.

You (or rather the seller) will need to remove it from the German register unless you qualify to have the boat on that register. If you are UK resident then putting it on the SSR is straightforward once you own it.

As with any used boat purchase make sure all the paperwork is in order and that you get a clean Bill of Sale giving you title to the boat.
