To be honest you are not getting much sympathy. I think most forumites are just relieved it is not their boat. Have you collared the culprit. Or is he another uninsured idiot who has done a runner? Suppose you will never know

Well it's obvious isn't it. First, the keel fell off and skipper was oblivious. Then, on returning to the marina (too fast of course) there was a sharp turn to port. Without the keel, a manouvre very much like a handbrake turn was executed and she slid sideways into a marina piling. The skipper, being a 17 year old bloke with a new licence, fled the scene and parked up before running away. Dad then returned to his pride and joy and posted a photo on the forum.

am I close?

Alternatively, given the month, a lifting strop found a week spot and squished your boat?
