Hello, I’ve got an Onan MDKBH genset. Worked fine last season. Had it serviced in March inc Impellar etc. Gone to use it on anchor today and it’s cutting out with 7 flashes on the error code which is sea water flow issues.

I’ve checked the strainer and it’s clear. It is full of water and seems to flow when it turns on briefly. Heard a weird sort of sucking sound from the back of the genset when it shuts down.

Any suggestions on what it may be?

Thank you

Don't know your set up, but if the outflow from the heat exchanger is injected via the exhaust elbow I would suspect this being either partially or fully blocked.

This would be enough to restrict or stop any water flow.

At the water outlet of the sea pump,
on the pipe it has a valve with two wires. Remove one cable, start the generator and check if water is coming out of the boat. If so, let it run until you find a raw water valve.
