Halfords are selling 2-stroke portable generators for £99.99, with a 12-month guarantee. They only have a limited number. They are probably not as good as Honda, but at that price I decided they were good enough for my purposes.

Try your local Costco--around £76. Will provide 900 watts peak and a little less on a continuous basis. Runs on 50:1 so I can use the outboard mix for the generator as well. Agree that it's not up to Honda standard but it look to be very well engineered, starts easily and runs quietly. Also provides enough power at home to run the pump and controls on the central heating system, the TV and a few lights.
Can't wait for a power cut so I can annoy the neighbours by having the light s on!

I saw the Costo ones - looked pretty good to me - then saw the same machine - same design, switches etc (might have been another unknown brand name) in a well-known chandlers on the Hamble - for £199.

Standby power for under £100 inc VAT can't be bad.

Seems better value than the £150 MDL want for a power lead. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif
