Ok so who here is a considerate generator user?

I ask as recently I had the pleasure of being rafted up to a Nelson like boat "Black Swan" I think who had their genne running until 10 at night and from 7:30 in the morning. They also got abusive when I asked why! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Agree with you 100%
I'm thinking about getting rid of ours because its so noisy I won't turn it on if anyones near us.
More batteries and a good inverter will probably be the way I'll go with a portable one for emergencies.
Only trouble is I'll have to dismantle it to get it out, spose thats why they invented winter!

Uuumm..... pleased for you really, mines a 6.5 and 32 years old, so more then ready for retirement I think, plus if I done all that I would'nt be able to get near it to service it as it lives in a very small space in a very cramped lazzerette.

Have a look at Thinsulate by 3M they now produce a range of materials for sound Insulation, aimed at the Marine market very light weight easy to install etc

We have a 6kw twin westy, thro a water/ trap again its well insulated in its box so I would have no problem running it, most people have these single pot things which I admit would be noisy at night.

However one must have a fry up in the morning so genny must be on. All these people with gas should not be allowed in marina unless fully corgi certified. And only then put to one corner of the marina out of harms way!

Thanks TCM and yes I have 2, the second doesn't have a sound shield at all so try not to use it much in marinas. Just fitted an A-Sea system which should mean we can plug into just about anything making things SILENT!!!

I've not used one but I'm told the fabric sound shields (like the 3M) are very good. You can also be sure that it'll be alot cheaper than the solid shield.
